Wonderful resource, looking forward to trying some routes this winter. Will make sure others in Sierra Club Snowcamping know about this.

I second Paul's suggestion for a back country touring forum. Among other possibilities it might be helpful in finding touring partners.

REPLY: The forum is on my "to do" list, but it is a big undertaking. I did implement a method for visitors to submit a review for any of the tours on the site. Look for the link near the bottom of each tour. This was proposed by a visitor.

Thank you Marcus, for the new tours you added this summer, and for the three articles on weight & calories.

I hope to be able to participate in the trail marking in October, either Hwy 88 or Echo Summit. Earlier in the month is better for me (can't do it Oct 18-26), & two or three consecutive days would be great.

I'm glad to see this site up and running - and growing as well. I've been checking it off and on for some months now. I'm hoping you will add a forum or bulletin board for backcountry ski touring. To my knowledge there is none in existence - several for telemarkers or AT skiers, but none for folks who are tour-oriented instead of turn-oriented. Thanks, Marcus - and by the way, have enjoyed your books and used them for many years.

REPLY: Thank you for your kind words about my efforts. I am especially happy to hear that you would like to see a forum for backcountry skiiers. I have thought the same thing and have already researched the software necessary to implement exactly what you suggest. As for when, I can't say for sure because it is a big undertaking. Cheers.

What a great resource for skiers and snowshoers. I hope the visitors will join our efforts at Snowlands Network to preserve the wild in winter.

I'm interested in the ski tour from North Lake to Rock Creek. Anyone know where I can find some internet pictures of this route?

Thanks for visiting. The current version is for web development purposes. Things are still in flux. In particular, I'm trying to settle on the design for the tour descriptions, maps and elevation profiles before implementing more tours. Look for the real thing some time in October 2007. Hope to see you then. Sign up for What's New? and I'll notify you when it's up and running.
