This tour is exceeding popular because it combines a very short tour with an outstanding 360-degree panoramic view from the summit of Peak 8843. The summit is also interesting in its own right because of the rock outcrops that adorn it.

Counterclockwise beginning with looking northeast toward the microwave towers on Slide Mountain the panorama from the summit includes:

Be aware that the difficulty of this tour has been skewed somewhat. The steepness is more in keeping with an intermediate tour, but the tour is rated beginner-intermediate because it is short.

The snow on this tour is often chopped up and rutted because it gets a great deal of visitation. The descent is also made more difficult by the trees. Therefore the best time to visit Peak 8843 is after a new snowfall and other times when the snow is soft.

You may find the descent from the summit easier via the Peak 8843 Loop tour although the descent is longer and the tour rated intermediate. On that tour the descent is on a south-facing slope and is less traveled; you will find room to zigzag down or make sweeping turns.
